Fees for Radiocarbon Analyses

NOSAMS accepts samples from all qualified laboratories and charges fees that vary according to the type of sample and the nature of the project. Rates are reduced for U.S. federally funded research. Analyses are invoiced after results are reported. For larger sample batches (50 or more), please contact us regarding pricing. Fees are set with the concurrence of our National Advisory and Planning Board and the National Science Foundation and are revised on an annual basis. Prices listed below are effective as of January 1, 2008. Printer-friendly version of fees here.

A $26 (U.S. federally funded) handling and analysis surcharge applies to small samples (< 25 µmol). Additional fees may be assessed for preparation of samples not ready for routine processing, samples which yield no analyzable carbon or those withdrawn at client request.

† We offer free analysis of one blank and one modern standard for submissions of CO2 in batches of 10 samples or more (that would be >= 12 actual samples submitted) and charge half price for the standards submitted in batches of less than 10 gas samples.

* Fees for swipe or contamination check analysis may be waived if made in conjunction with regular sample submission.
